Let's Kick this Pig (not literally)

I guess that I should start my first blog post with why I decided to start in the first place. As an amateur cook, I have always enjoyed reading the blogs of other like-minded folks who just want to share their experiences in the kitchen. Their ideas have often given me the push to try something new or a jumping off point to create something of my own. I thought it was high time to give something back.

My other major reason for blogging is also my major reason for cooking in the first place. My beautiful wife, who would hopefully forgive me for writing this. As someone who was once a picky eater (ask my mom), it's been a fun challenge to now cook for someone who is trying to shake off being a picky eater. It's really put me to task, searching for recipes, often adapting them, or just creating something new that would satisfy her current food likes and push her to try more. I do have to say that she has done a wonderful job of putting up with my pushing and has yet to hit me with a frying pan for suggesting that she try something new.

I call the blog "My Crowded Kitchen" because it's true. In terms of space, I'm not working with much and my cupboards are overflowing with spices and sauces and pots and pans. Trying to find a little used pan or spice is practically an exercise in excavation. We actually store the wok in the linen closet. But we make do with what we have, dreaming of someday having real counterspace and more than 4 cabinets. Maybe even a gas stove. It's a challenge, but our Crowded Kitchen has been good to us and we are as good to it as we can be.

Thanks for checking out my blog and hopefully I'll have some interesting creation to share soon.
